This is a band called Melt Banana

Melt Banana @ Exchange Bristol 25.10.19

Yesterday I saw the Experimental Japanese Noise Rock band Melt Banana play in Bristol. The band has been going on since the early 90s and is known for it's assortment of high energy guitar riffs layered by a large number of effect pedals alongside the very much proficient guitarist Ichirou Agata which is then further complimented by vocalist Yasuko Onuki high-pitched relentless yelping. During the set up for the show, I noticed some technical areas of interest I would like to point out. It seemed the band was using the DAW software Ableton as shown by the Photograph I had taken here. Yasuko also had this handheld remote Midi controller which I presumed activated the samples set up in Ableton. The show sold out and the Exchange with a capacity of 500 felt densely populated appropriate for the harsh audience that needed to reflect the ever youthful, springy Yasuko and the ever guttural sounding Ichirou. A notable example of Yasuko's springy stage performance is how she points her arms when Ichirou is about to demonstrate a rapid guitar rhythm and then suddlenly drops it in the flow of guitar drop. This as well as the previously mentioned high energy atomphere created a highly memorable experience.
